RENTALS — bicycles, e-bikes, equipment

Payment methods:

• Cash at the Praha Bike office (accepted currencies: €, $, £, CZK)
• Online card payment in advance

Conditions:

• Please bring a valid passport or ID/driver’s license
• Security deposit (held for the duration of the rental): €60–€400 (depending on bike model), payable in cash or by credit card authorization.

Rain or Shine:

• Rain or shine - All our tours & rentals operate every day. Make sure you have the sunscreen, or rain ponchos or warm gloves for the ride. We are also happy to lend you gloves in the winter :)

For the rider's safety (according to the manufacturer), the bikes are limited to a certain maximum weight & height.

MTB / City / Trekking / Gravel Bikes

• Rider weight limit: under 110 kg (240 lbs)
• Total weight limit (rider + luggage): 125 kg (275 lbs)
• Max rider height: 190 cm for MTB; 200 cm for trekking/gravel bikes

E-Bikes (Classic)

• Recommended for riders aged 15 and above
• Rider weight: 45–110 kg (100–240 lbs)
• Total weight limit (rider + luggage): 125 kg (275 lbs)
• Rider height: 150–190 cm

Fat Tire E-Bikes

• Rider weight: 50–110 kg (110–240 lbs)
• Total weight limit (rider + luggage): 135 kg (298 lbs)
• Rider height: 160–190 cm

Tandem Bikes

• Max total weight (2 riders + luggage): under 170 kg (374 lbs)
• Rider height limits: 160-192 cm (6'3")

SAFETY
At Praha Bike, your safety is our priority! Our bikes are well-maintained, comfortable and made for riding in Prague. Our well-planned routes manage to avoid tourist crowds and high-traffic areas. We stay on side streets, bike paths and ride in green area and parks. Helmets are always recommended but are not obligatory for those over 18 y.o. (under Czech law).

Helmets are recommended for all riders and provided free of charge. In accordance with Czech law, helmets are not mandatory for riders over 18 years of age.

RIDING REQUIREMENTS
Participants must be able to ride a bicycle confidently. We provide a basic orientation on how to use the brakes and gears of our bicycles and e-bikes, but no riding lessons are offered.

RAIN OR SHINE
Tours and rentals run daily in all weather conditions. Please dress accordingly – sunscreen, rain ponchos, or warm layers are recommended. In winter, we’re happy to provide warm gloves for your ride.

INSURANCE: Theft & Damage
While theft insurance is not mandatory, we highly recommend it to minimize risks.
Cost
Theft and damage insurance ranges from €4 to €14, depending on the type of bike. It applies only to thefts occurring during the daytime (7 AM - 8 PM) and covers not intentional damage to the bike, including manufacturer defects.

In Case of Damage
If your rental bike is not intentionally damaged or not functioning properly, you must call us for assistance.

Without insurance:

• You are responsible for covering the cost of our mechanic’s trip within the Prague area to repair or replace the bike, as well as any damages caused during the rental time.
• If you're outside Prague, you may visit a local bike repair shop for assistance or attempt to repair the bike yourself.
• If a manufacturer or material defect occurs, you will not be charged for the repair, but you must return the bike to our shop using a taxi or our delivery service.

With insurance:

• If the bike is damaged, we will replace it.
• If the bike breaks down or has a manufacturer or material defect, we will fix it or provide a replacement.
• For repairs outside Prague, you must visit a local bike repair shop or attempt repairs yourself. We will reimburse expenses for fixing the bike or replacing parts, provided you submit valid receipts.

What the Insurance Covers
✅ Damage to the bike during regular use

✅ Expenses for damages incurred for bike repairs during the trip
✅ Roadside emergency service in Prague’s area
🚫 Insurance does NOT cover damage or accidents caused by:
❌ Violating traffic rules
❌ Improper parking
❌ Riding under the influence of illegal substances
❌ Accidents caused by the rider (In such cases, you must use your personal or travel insurance to cover the costs.)

Nighttime Storage
From 8 PM to 7 AM, all bikes must be stored in a secure location such as:
🏠 A house
🏨 A hotel garage
🅿️ A parking lot or storage room

🚫 Theft insurance does NOT cover bikes left outside overnight (e.g., on the street or in open spaces).
🔒 Bikes must be properly locked through the frame and back wheel to an immovable object (e.g., bike stand, pole, or fence), ensuring they do not block any entrance or path.

In Case of Theft
If your rental bike is stolen, you must report the theft to the police. The police report must clearly state that:
1️⃣ The bike was properly locked
2️⃣ The lock was cut

Without insurance:
🚲 You will be liable to pay the full replacement value of the bicycle, ranging from €200 to €1,400, depending on the bike type.

With insurance:
💰 A retention fee will apply, ranging from €40 to €140, depending on the bike type.
🚨 Important: A valid police report is required to prove the bike was locked and stolen. Otherwise, legal consequences may apply, as damages exceeding €200 can be considered a criminal offense under local law.

Daily Bike Tours & Hourly Rentals

• 50% refund if canceled 48+ hours in advance
• No refund if canceled less than 48 hours in advance
• No refunds for no-shows or early returns

Private Tours & Multi-Day Rentals

• 50% refund if canceled 7+ days in advance
• No refund if canceled less than 7 days in advance
• No refunds for no-shows or early returns

💡 Note: Tour and rental prices do not include travel insurance or coverage for cancellations. We recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance covering trip delays, interruptions, and personal or medical emergencies.

Refunds:

• Processed to your card, bank account, cash or via your agency
• 100% refund if Praha Bike cancels the tour (e.g. minimum group not met)
• Not satisfied? We’ll refund or offer you a free alternative tour
